Guestbook Villa Moncalme
|
While searching for a month stay in Switzerland for
my October vacation, I have found on the Internet
the « Villa Moncalme » and their owners extremely
honest and helpful from the first phone calls.
I
have been impressed of their genuine kindness and
help all the duration of my stay. |
|
The room and the studio were very well equiped
and had all the comfort of a home outside home.
As a very pleasant surprise, I have found
Travers, a place of pure nature and fresh air
with beautiful mountain landscapes and friendly
people.
With Edmée, I have learned more about the
village and it’s churches. We have been to a
concert together as she invited me, shared
impressions on books and classical music.
Also, I have been able to learn how to create
floral decorations with Edmée’s help as we
prepared them for the kermesse that was held on
Oct 25.
Jean-Paul has assisted me with all was needed
for my stay and comfort. Also, he prepared all
my travel reservations as I travelled on to
France and Romania. |

All
the pictures and beautiful memories are kept and I
hope to return soon to this beautiful place and the
kind friends I have made !

We
were so delighted to find la Villa Moncalme in
Travers.
The
location is very tranquil with stunning views from
the villa, fantastic setting.
Edmée and Jean-Paul have been wonderful hosts to our
family.
Our first visit back to Switzerland with the
children, Emily 9 Yrs, James 7 Yrs and William 4
Yrs., since we lived here in Neuchâtel an Engollon
in the Val-de-Ruz, ten years ago for a couple of
years.
This has been a perfect location to visit all our
old haunts and show the children the beautiful
places in Switzerland.
We
visited Engollon and walked around the village and
Val-de-Ruz.
We
have spent a few days at the lake in Neuchâtel and
exploring the town, drove up to the Chaumont for a
picnic and climbed the viewing tower. |

The children love the beach at Cortaillod which
is next to Colombier, great for swimming and
great views across Neuchâtel Lake to the
mountains.
Walked round the Creux-du-Van which is quite
spectacular, drove up from Couvet to the Soliat.
Drove to the Saut du Doubs which
is a must, on the border of France, a boat ride
down the river and a short walk to the waterfall
the gorge is quite amazing.
Spent time “lazing” at the villa Moncalme. The
garden is lovely and the children are very happy
playing in the sand pit and with the many toys
they have here.
Emily and Edmée made a special bond straight
away, as Emily is learning to play the flute and
Edmée as been helping Emily with lessons as she
plays the guitar.
Edmée also has shown interest in learning
English and helped me with
pronouncing my French. They are wonderful
hosts. |

Visited Grindelwald a perfect day, the real post
card Switzerland everyone imagines.
Many
other places which we will be taking the children to
in the next few days : Murten, Gruyères which is an
amazing hilltop village a must for any tourist !
We will be driving to Lausanne and along is
beautiful lakeside, Vevey, Montreux and to visit
Château de Chillon Castel on the lakeside very
fairytale like.
We
are lucky also in Val-de-Travers to have a open air
swimming pool, although the kids love the lakeside
swimming !
We
will also visit the asphalt mine here in Travers
before the end of our time here.
We
love Switzerland and our children are now also
falling in love with this pretty country.
We
will be back again soon.

Dear Jean-Paul,
It was a great pleasure to stay in Villa Moncalme
when we were visiting
Switzerland.
These days we are looking at the pictures and they
are fantastic, very
beautiful landscapes, and green all around us (very
difficult to find in the
south east of Spain, where we live). |
|
Let me tell
you that we are very happy to have met you and
we will recommed your
house to have a nice stay in Switzerland.
We won´t forget our beautiful holidays...
Good luck and Nice to meet you.

What
a great find !
We found this apartment via the Internet and was
pleasantly surprised to find something in Travers.
We have family in the area and we were able to use
this apartment as a central hub.
But even better was what we found when we got here.
Not only was the apartment bright and clear, but the
host family was very welcoming and provided us with
loads of advice on interesting things to see and do
in the area.
We no longer need to look for accommodations for our
next visit to Switzerland. We’ll be contacting
Mr. Beuret for sure !
Thank you for everything.

We are again on our daily life but we
will remember Villa Moncalme for ever. We had a very
nice time there. Of course, we will strongly
recommend Villa Moncalme to our friends.

Villa Moncalme proved to be the place for a perfect
family holiday.
The accommodation and location are excellent, but
even more importantly, one couldn’t wish for better
hosts than Mr and Mrs Beuret.
The holiday has been ideal for our 2 children (aged
3 and 7 years) – the villa is packed with toys to
suit all ages (Josh and I especially enjoyed the
table football, and little Alice loved all
the smurfs – or “Schtroumpfs” as
they’re called in Switzerland).

Outside there are swings and a
slide and lots of the amusements for the little
ones.
The best way to see the Val-de-Travers and its
beautiful countryside is by bike.
We rented bikes for several days and followed
the quiet and safe cycle routes.
One day we cycled to the open air pod near
Couvet, an excellent place for trials
Our biggest tour was to Boudry which took us
through a spectacular gorge free from traffic.
Most nights we ate at the nearby restaurant de
l’Ours, which I can recommend.
Apart from the countryside and cycle tours it is
a must to visit the asphalt mines. This is a
guided trip, partly by touch light deep into the
old mine workings just outside Travers. |
The
guide speaks French and German, so unless your
language skills are good (or like us you find some
kind person to translate for you) it will be hard to
understand some of the technical details.
This is just a snapshot of our stay here. We have
had the most fantastic time.
The children are not too keen on going back home to
Scotland, and I would have to agree with them.
Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Beuret for an unforgettable
holiday.

I had the opportunity to stay at the
Villa Moncalme in Travers for 4 days during a
business trip. I was extremely pleased with the
accommodation, the host family and the beautiful
landscape.
The room was clean and cosy and very well set up
with a kitchen and large bathroom, all for an
excellent rate.
I especially benefited from the private phone line
that allowed me to access E-mail and the Internet
with my laptop computer and make business phone
calls.
The location of this B&B is also ideal : minutes
only walking distance to an excellent bakery, train
station and shops, yet at the outskirt of the town
right beside hiking and biking trails.
I enjoyed walking and biking after a
full day of work. The landscape is picturesque and
rental bikes were inexpensive and helped to explore
the valley.
I can highly recommend this B&B as a
great getaway, as a base for the business traveller
or for hiking, biking enthusiasts looking for a good
starting point.
Families would likely love it here too, as there is
a bigger apartment for rent as well.
Well done Family Beuret ! You have a great place !
